- 3-4 bread slices with edges discarded
- 1 green chilli chopped
- 1 teaspoon crushed black pepper
- to taste Salt
- 1 teaspoon cumin seeds
- 2 tablespoon rice flour
- 2 tablespoon roasted semolina
- 1 small onion chopped
- 6-8 curry leaves chopped
- as needed Buttermilk to bind
- 1/2 inch ginger grated
- as needed Oil to deep fry
- Tear the bread into pieces and place them in a mixing bowl
- Add onion, cumin, pepper,chilli,curry leaves, ginger to the bread pieces
- Add salt to taste, rice flour and semolina
- Mash all ingredients well
- Now pour in the buttermilk slowly and start to combine/bind the mixture
- Once done, grease you palms
- Create Medu vadas out of the mixture (makes 6-7 medium vadas)
- Heat oil for deep frying
- Fry the vadas in batches until brown on both sides
- Rest the fried vadas on an absorbent paper for sometime
- Serve warm with your favourite chutnies, sambhar
